The world’s largest manufacturer of fishing tackle, Pure Fishing, has hired a new communications agency to promote its iconic brands that include the likes of Abu Garcia, Berkley, PENN and Shakespeare.
The company, which was sold by Newell Brands to New York-based private equity firm, Sycamore Partners, for $1.3 billion in January this year, has partnered with Gunpowder, whose list of clients include Minn Kota, Humminbird, Costa, Academy Sports + Outdoors and GoPro.
“We have chosen to work with the team at Gunpowder in part due to its solid reputation for elevating brands through thoughtful communication programmes that go beyond traditional PR tactics, but also its work ethic and demonstrated passion for the outdoors and the fishing community,” said Jon Schlosser, Vice President of Marketing at Pure Fishing.
“We have bold plans for the future of our business and look forward to partnering with Gunpowder to help us achieve our lofty goals.”
Ryan Chuckel, Founder and President of Gunpowder, said: “My first fishing rod was an Ugly Stik and my first tournament bass ate a Berkley Power Worm. Being entrusted with some of the fishing world’s most storied and powerful brands is as humbling as it is exciting.
“And while the legacy of the company is unmatched, thanks to new initiatives and a renewed commitment to being the best in the business, the future is even brighter.”
